Pipe Bursting
Replacing aged pipe infrastructure without open trenches.
Infrastructure across Canada is aging. Greely Construction renews and replaces this aged infrastructure using pipe bursting in order to alleviate the risk and inconvenience to our environment and our population.
Pipe bursting replaces pipes without using open trench methods. This is accomplished by pulling a bursting device through the existing pipe which, by virtue of its size or its radial expansion capability, shatters the old pipe and forces the fragments into the surrounding soil.
The method works on pipes ranging from 2 to 30 inches, with developing tools potentially reaching 4 feet, and applies to cast iron, thin wall steel, concrete, clay, asbestos, PVC, and polyethylene materials.
It reduces overflow in wet weather, minimizes the need for bypass pumping, and requires minimal excavation — ideal for high-profile areas where disruption to surrounding businesses, residences, and environment is an important consideration.
